Patchwork bar quilt

This soft, small, 100% cotton, hand-quilted lap quilt has vibrant colours and visible quilting lines running over the irregular-sized bars (stripes). It can be used as a lap quilt, baby quilt, or displayed as an artwork. 

This quilt was designed, machine-pieced and hand-quilted by Philippa Kerr. The design plays with positive and negative space, and no rulers were used in the cutting of the pieces, meaning the end result is organic and improvisational. 

The reverse side is made of two fabric blocks, a yellow-and-pink polka dot and a turquoise-and-yellow pinstripe. 

Dimensions: 83×89 cm (approx). The quilt is not completely square.

Fabric and batting all 100% cotton. Sewing thread polyester or nylon. 

Care instructions: The less this gets washed the better, but when necessary, hand wash in cold water. Dry on the line, ideally in the shade. Direct sun and bright light can fade quilting cotton over time. 

All fabrics have been prewashed for shrinkage. If washing makes the quilt a little bit more crinkly than it was before, this is generally considered a desirable feature of handmade quilts :)
